PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wong Yuanjiao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshi Doi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoshi Doi told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wong Yuanjiao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshi Doi!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yuanjiao looks to score with a jab to the body but Doi is just out of range.
Doi shoots for a takedown but Yuanjiao saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Horrible takedown by Doi or perhaps it was just good defense by Yuanjiao which made him look bad.
Yuanjiao throws a looping overhand right but Doi ducks down to avoid it.

Yuanjiao tries to sprawl but Doi drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Doi wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Yuanjiao uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Doi stands up from Yuanjiao's guard - Doi perhaps looking for a knockout.
Doi tries for a takedown but Yuanjiao sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Wong Yuanjiao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshi Doi.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yuanjiao moves out of range of the body kick.

Yuanjiao moves into the clinch successfully.
Doi is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Yuanjiao to keep the fight standing.
Doi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Yuanjiao walks away with a smile on his face. Doi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Yuanjiao counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Doi looks gassed!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Doi is defended easily by Yuanjiao.
Yuanjiao thuds a left hand into Doi's body.

Yuanjiao drops Doi with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Doi looks back up at him and smiles so Yuanjiao waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Doi is rocked!

It looks like Yoshi Doi has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Doi misses with a takedown attempt - Yuanjiao sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Doi is still on wobbly legs! Can Yuanjiao finish him?
Doi waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Yuanjiao.
Doi walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Doi limp body while Yuanjiao jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Wong Yuanjiao!
Wong Yuanjiao really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Brand New Life logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
