Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stan Baem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Schietzelt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schietzelt has chosen Almost Famous, Eminem as his entrance music. The key to victory for Stan Baem has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stan Baem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wanderlei Schietzelt!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baem throws a head kick that half lands.

Baem closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Baem breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Baem jabs Schietzelt to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Schietzelt clinches.
Schietzelt wants a takedown.
Baem using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Schietzelt drags the fight down to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Schietzelt wants to hit a switch here but Baem passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Schietzelt there!

Schietzelt is squirming around, avoiding Baem's attempts to control the action.

Schietzelt is looking to improve his position but Baem isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Baem trying to control but he's not successful this time.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Stan Baem just wasn't active enough.
Baem scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Wanderlei Schietzelt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schietzelt throws a leg kick
and Baem counters with a three punch combo that has Schietzelt backing up. Schietzelt nods at Baem to acknowledge the strikes.
Schietzelt will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Baem moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Nice takedown defense from Schietzelt. No joy for Baem on that attempt.
Schietzelt shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Baem but Baem pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Baem breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Baem.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Baem. Schietzelt shrugs it off though.

Baem gets tackled into the cage by Schietzelt. Schietzelt maintains the clinch.

Baem drags the fight down to the ground.

Baem has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Schietzelt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baem is controlling Schietzelt's posture.
Baem looking to hit a scissor sweep but Schietzelt is one step ahead there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Schietzelt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Baem swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Stan Baem wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Baem fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Schietzelt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Schietzelt takes the fight into the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Schietzelt gets control of Baem's arms and successfully pulls guard. Schietzelt will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Baem counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Schietzelt decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Schietzelt wants to take a breather but Baem is having none of it.

Baem wants to control but Schietzelt is keeping busy.
Schietzelt takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Baem is looking to control Schietzelt's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Baem avoid being mounted?

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Schietzelt clinches with his opponent.
Schietzelt tries to score a body lock takedown but Baem shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Schietzelt goes for a takedown in the clinch but Baem prevents it.

Baem escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Baem chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Baem throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Schietzelt steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Baem. That one must have hurt.
Schietzelt takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Baem connects with the punch.
Baem throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Schietzelt's head.

Baem has Schietzelt up against the cage in a clinch.

Baem just leaning against Schietzelt, taking a breather.
Baem throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Schietzelts head.
Schietzelt misses with the head strike.
Baem manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Schietzelt drops down looking for an ankle pick but Baem pulls his leg out and moves away.
Stan Baem has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Schietzelt.
Baem tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Baem shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Schietzelt but Schietzelt pushes him off and we're back to square one.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Baem is pulling down on Schietzelt's head. It's preventing any offense from Schietzelt, at least for the moment.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Baem feints and as Schietzelt raises his hands in defense, Baem changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Baem drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Schietzelt dives on top into guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Wanderlei Schietzelt was stalling too much, according to the referee.
A head kick misses from Baem.
Baem tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Schietzelt manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Schietzelt takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Baem lands an elbow inside that Schietzelt shrugs off.
Baem is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Schietzelt is keeping busy.

Schietzelt thows a huge punch but Baem dodges it nicely.

Baem has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Schietzelt is working away from the top position though.

Baem is not content to let Schietzelt control the position.

Stan Baem has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Baem lands with a thumping leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Schietzelt stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Baem.

Schietzelt drives through and clinches with Baem against the cage.
Schietzelt has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Baem avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Baem shoots in for a takedown but Schietzelt shows good takedown defense.

Baem feints and then cracks Schietzelt's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Schietzelt down.

Baem pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Schietzelt dodges the punch combination from Baem.
Baem fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Baem lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Baem doesn't manage to clinch there - Schietzelt circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Baem.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well Baem has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
