PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bobby King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ric Davidson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davidson has chosen Bury Your Dead as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bobby King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ric Davidson!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King wants to clinch
and Davidson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
No joy there for King, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Davidson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
King trying to control from the bottom.
Davidson wants to control but King is keeping him busy.

Davidson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so King is just riding it out for now. Davidson eventually gives up the hold.

Davidson is looking for a kimura but King is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Davidson to get the leverage.

King wants to control the action here but instead Davidson manages to pass to full mount!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
King is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Davidson closes the distance and clinches up with King, looking for a takedown. Davidson pushes King against the ropes but King circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Davidson shoots in for a double leg but King sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

King gets caught flat footed, as Davidson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Davidson shoots in looking for a takedown. King tries to sprawl out of it but Davidson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. King manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

King throws a nice looking combination but Davidson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bobby King wasn't doing enough on the ground.

King gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Davidson to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Davidson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but King manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Davidson has King in his guard.

King cracks Davidson with a solid left hand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

King postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Davidson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of King, into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bobby King will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


A looping hook to the body misses from Davidson. King does a little dance to reset his feet.

Davidson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
King is trying to control Davidson's posture but Davidson avoids it.

Davidson swings around for an armbar but King sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Davidson's guard.

King got a little sloppy there for a moment and Davidson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, King has managed to get both his arms back between Davidson's legs - danger averted.

Davidson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as King controls the pace.

King gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Davidson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from King.

King closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Davidson's guard.

Davidson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but King can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Davidson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. King stacks Davidson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by King!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Davidson parries the strikes from King easily there. King is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Davidson to escape.
