The crowd seem to be enjoying Rumble's choice of entrance music: Click Click Boom. The key to victory for Jay Melanko has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rumble has a takedown stuffed.

Rumble takes the fight into the clinch.

Rumble breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rumble rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Melanko moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Melanko lands a nice hook to Rumble's body. Rumble takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Rumble tries to close the distance and clinch up but Melanko swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A left and a right from Melanko both land. Nice combination.

It looks like Austin Rumble has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rumble fails with the takedown.
Rumble looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Melanko will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Melanko wants a takedown but no success here.

Melanko is trying to break the clinch but Rumble is controlling him.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Rumble is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Melanko is looking to stand up but Rumble won't let him.

Melanko is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rumble is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rumble has escaped and now he's on top!

Rumble throws a big right hand that misses.

Rumble got a little sloppy there for a moment and Melanko has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rumble has managed to get both his arms back between Melanko's legs - danger averted.
Rumble wants to control from the top but Melanko keeps moving.
Rumble might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Melanko kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Austin Rumble was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Melanko jabs Rumble to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Rumble misses with a series of wild punches.
No joy there for Melanko, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Melanko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rumble misses with a few strikes there.
Melanko lands a head shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rumble instigates a clinch.

Rumble's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Melanko works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Rumble leaves his chin hanging out and Melanko seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Rumble crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
