Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bryce Locke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bryce Locke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Paul!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Locke fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Locke lands a jab to Paul's midsection.
Locke tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Paul manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Good work by Locke as he checks the leg kick.

Paul closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Locke wants to get back to his feet.
Well, if Paul is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
It looks like Paul might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Paul is keen to just control but Locke is a slippery customer.

OK we're going to have a standup here. John Paul hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Locke throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Paul's waist but Paul gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Locke off to one side.
Paul throws a right and a left that Locke avoids nicely.
Paul tries to close the distance and clinch up but Locke swats him away and circles back towards the center.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Paul can do anything to dispel that myth.

Paul really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Locke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Locke is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Paul's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Paul's back!

You can see the frustration on Paul's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Locke lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Paul hold on?!

Locke lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Locke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Paul is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Locke.
Locke lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Locke.
Will Locke go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Locke is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Locke gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Locke gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Locke apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Locke shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Paul as he avoids it easily.
Paul is trying hard to land a takedown here. Locke sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Paul dives in and grabs Locke's left leg, looking for a takedown. Locke pushes down on Paul's head and hops out.

Locke shoots in looking for a takedown but Paul manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Locke's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
