Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Turk!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uppercut connects with a single shot there.
Uppercut closes this distance looking for a takedown but Turk circles away.
Turk closes the distance looking to clinch
and Uppercut counters with a thumping low kick.
Uppercut connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Turk just misses with a punch to the body.
Turk wants to clinch.
Turk clinches.
Uppercut misses with a short punch on the inside.
Uppercut breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Turk misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Uppercut avoids the body shot from Turk.
Uppercut's jab looks to have found its range, popping Turk under the eye.

Uppercut fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Uppercut throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Uppercut ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
No joy there for Uppercut, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Turk clinches.
Turk is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Uppercut goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Turk landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Uppercut breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Uppercut misses with a jab, cross combination.
Uppercut scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Uppercut thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Turk's head.

Turk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Uppercut. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Uppercut is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Turk can do anything to dispel that myth.

Uppercut works his foot free and advances to mount.
BOOM! Uppercut connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Turk is trying to get to the ropes to help him get back to his feet.
Uppercut throws some wild stikes that Turk manages to avoid easily.
Poor strikes thrown by Uppercut there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Uppercut has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Uppercut thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Uppercut lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Uppercut cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Turk wants to try and get back to his feet.

Uppercut connects with a bit shot that sees Turk covering up! More strikes from Uppercut and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Uppercut is our winner by TKO!
