Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Laz Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Graeme Souness!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jr avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Souness drives through and clinches with Jr against the cage.

Souness breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Souness throws a sloppy head kick
and Jr counters with a leg kick.
Souness checks a leg kick nicely.
Souness pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Graeme Souness seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Souness throws a big shot that misses.
Jr lands a lovely overhand right.
Souness throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Souness takes a shot right to the bread basket.
A head kick misses from Jr.
Souness looks to throw the jab but Jr is out of range.
Jr throws a push kick but Souness slaps the foot to one side.
Souness doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Jr counters with a single leg into guard. Souness didn't expect that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Souness is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Jr dives into side control.
Jr lands an elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jr lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Souness down.
Jr scores with punches from side control.
Jr wants to control but Souness is keeping him busy.
Souness is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jr has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Souness is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Souness is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jr is controlling him well.

Souness can't do much from the bottom here.
Souness tries to improve position but can't.

Souness takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Souness is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Jr is controlling him well.
Souness sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Jr lands strikes from half guard.
Souness keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Jr missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Jr content to control rather than advance.
Jr lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Jr passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Souness!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Souness is looking to improve his position but Jr isn't that keen on the idea.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jr trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Jr lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Jr cracks Souness with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Souness tries to hold on but Jr pushes him away.
Souness keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jr fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Jr is landing with some decent strikes but Souness is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Souness tries to hold on but Jr postures up.
Jr scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Souness?
Souness is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jr working Souness over with strikes here.


Souness is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jr fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Souness is still in real trouble! Can Jr finish him?
Jr unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Souness wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Jr celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Laz Jr!
