Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between John Grisham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Ironside (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Grisham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Ironside!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ironside lands a body shot.
Grisham throws a nice looking combination but Ironside bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ironside scores with a nice head shot.
Grisham doesn't manage to clinch there - Ironside circles away.
Ironside misses with a straight left.
Ironside wants to clinch up but Grisham keeps it at a distance.
Grisham gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Ironside.
The fighters circling - Ironside throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Grisham moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Grisham has managed to clinch.
Ironside has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Grisham after a bit of a struggle.
Ironside throws a head punch that misses.
Ironside working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Ironside doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Ironside stops a takedown attempt from Grisham.

Ironside breaks from the clinch.
Grisham throws a wild body kick that Ironside sees coming a mile off.
Grisham throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ironside counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Grisham thinking.
Grisham tries to clinch up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grisham throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sloppy strikes from Grisham. Those never looked like landing.

Grisham moves into the clinch.
Ironside is looking to break free of the clinch but Grisham has double underhooks.
Ironside misses with a short punch on the inside.

Grisham pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ironside misses with a jab, cross combination.
Some wild striking there from Grisham.
Grisham really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ironside shoots in but no luck this time.
Grisham dives in and grabs Ironside's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ironside pushes down on Grisham's head and hops out.
Ironside with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Grisham changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ironside tries to avoid it but Grisham manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ironside to the ground. Ironside escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Grisham. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Grisham is breathing heavily.
Ironside throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Ironside looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Grisham!
Ironside postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Grisham looks a forlorn figure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ironside in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Ironside is landing with some decent strikes but Grisham is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Grisham sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Ironside lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ironside not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ironside throwing shots but Grisham is blocking nicely.
Ironside really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grisham. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ironside throws a strike but Grisham manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Ironside tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Grisham!
After winning the bout, John Grisham thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
