Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Van King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Fernando Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Van King!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King takes the fight into the clinch.
Silva is trying to stall.
Silva drops down looking for an ankle pick but King pulls his leg out and moves away.

King rushes Silva and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Silva tries a body shot but King blocks it.
Silva tries to pull guard but King won't allow it.
King wants to get back to striking at distance but Silva won't allow it.

King prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fernando Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
King misses with an elbow over the top.
King lands a shot to the body.
King controlling the action here for a moment.
King is pressed up against the cage. Silva has hold of a leg and is looking to drag King down to the mat. King avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
King fails in his attempt to clinch.

Silva jumps guard.
King tries to free his leg and advance position but Silva is retaining full guard.
Silva is trying to control the position from the bottom.
King wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Silva striking off his back but it's not causing King any problems.

Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but King is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
King looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Silva is fending him off so far but King persists. Nope, Silva circles away and we're back to standing.
Van King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

King clinches up with Silva and pushes him back against the cage.

King breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Silva with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling King to score with a decent uppercut.
King has his takedown stuffed

and Silva counters with a shoot takedown. King fights it but they end up in guard.
King is trying to control the position but Silva postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva passes King's left leg - he's now in half guard.
King is trying to stand back up but Silva is controlling him
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
King looks gassed!
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.
King wants to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Silva is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. King doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Silva.

Silva is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so King is just riding it out for now. Silva eventually gives up the hold.
Silva tries to pass to full mount but King defends it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King is looking to escape.
Silva wants to pass to mount but King is defending the position.
King wants to improve his position but Silva is controlling well.
Silva working over King with some ground and pound. King looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but King does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

King is refusing to be controlled, as Silva sits in half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Horrible takedown by King or perhaps it was just good defense by Silva which made him look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Fernando Silva will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
King wants to clinch up but Silva keeps it at a distance.
Silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
King fails with the takedown.
King closes the distance and clinches up with Silva, looking for a takedown. King pushes Silva against the cage but Silva circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
King throws a front kick aimed at Silva's knee but Silva avoids it well.
Silva tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but King swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fernando Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva swats away the attempt to clinch by King.
King shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silva as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King fails with the takedown.
Silva fails with the takedown.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

King throws a leg kick

and Silva counters with a shoot takedown. King fights it but they end up in guard.
Silva thows a big elbow that misses.
Silva trying to control but King is working from the bottom.
Silva passes into half guard.
Silva is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for King!
King wants to hold on but Silva pushes him away.

King reaches up and pulls Silva towards him, trying to control the position. Silva manages to get a guillotine from the mount though! This could be big trouble for King! King tries to roll over - now Silva is on the bottom but the guillotine is really deep and King has to tap out! Great work there by Silva!
