The crowd seem to be enjoying Maltive's choice of entrance music: Show Me What You Got. Kimo Kanoa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maltive pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Maltive cracks the inside of Kanoa's front leg.
Maltive fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kanoa.
Maltive throws a nice outside leg kick.
Maltive cracks the inside of Kanoa's front leg.
Maltive is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kanoa connects with a jab.
Kanoa scores with a nice strike.
Maltive looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Maltive throws a sloppy head kick and Kanoa moves out of range easily.

and Maltive takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Maltive fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kanoa has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Kanoa chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Maltive can pounce on him.

Kanoa misses with a hook. Maltive ducked under it nicely.

Maltive misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kanoa lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kanoa is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Kanoa is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Maltive tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Maltive throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Maltive will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Kanoa scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

and Kanoa counters with a good low kick that Maltive was not able to check.
Kanoa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kanoa will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Maltive keeps Kanoa at a distance using the push kick.

Kanoa cracks Maltive with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Kanoa scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Maltive pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kanoa is out of range and Maltive settles back down.

Kanoa uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Kanoa misses with an uppercut. Maltive saw that one coming.
Kanoa does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Maltive takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Good leg kick by Kanoa there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Maltive looks gassed!
Maltive uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kanoa.
Maltive finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Kanoa's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Maltive falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
