Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morrison fails with the takedown.

so Morrison counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rua is trying to keep Morrison in close.
Rua wants to get back to his feet but Morrison is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Morrison slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rua is on top in guard.

and Morrison counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rua throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Rua escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Morrison gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Morrison tries to free his leg and advance position but Rua is retaining full guard.
Rua is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rua can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Morrison controls the pace.
Morrison stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Rua is looking for a sweep. Morrison is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Morrison is taking a breather. Rua says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mark Morrison wasn't active enough on the ground.
Rua dives in and grabs Morrison's left leg, looking for a takedown. Morrison pushes down on Rua's head and hops out.
Morrison shoots in looking for a takedown. Rua tries to sprawl out of it but Morrison keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rua manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Morrison misses with a jab, cross combination.
Morrison takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Morrison is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Rua can't fight it off and eventually Morrison manages to take the fight to the floor. Rua looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Rua lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Morrison!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Morrison's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Morrison tries to hold on but Rua pushes him away.
Mark Morrison is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Rua is landing with some decent strikes but Morrison is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cain Rua.
Well Morrison has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
