Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zach Wurster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bayley James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wurster misses with a combination

and James moves into the clinch.
Wurster keeps the fight in the clinch, despite James's efforts to push away.
Wurster tries to break free but James pushes him back against the cage.

Wurster escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Zach Wurster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wurster fails in his attempt to clinch.
James tries to clinch but Wurster is having none of it.
James throws a jab but it's blocked by Wurster.

James has managed to clinch.

James's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wurster misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
James lands a jab to the head.
James connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Wurster misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
James lands with a shot to the body.

and James counters with a stiff right hand.

James tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Wurster lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but James circles away quickly and effectively.
Wurster throws a right hand that James ducks under and follows up with a left that James also avoids with ease.
Wurster will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
James wants to clinch up but Wurster keeps it at a distance.
Some bone on bone action there as Wurster checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
James tries to clinch but Wurster moves out of range.
James just misses with a punch to the body.
James will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Wurster fails in his attempt to clinch.

James has closed the distance and engaged Wurster in a clinch.

and James cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Wurster is breathing heavily.
A jab from James finds it's way through Wurster's defenses.
The fight stays on the outside here - James looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Wurster gets tackled into the cage by James. James maintains the clinch.
Wurster is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
James scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

James moves into the clinch successfully.

Nice uppercut lands for James. That snapped Wurster's head back.

James clinches up with Wurster and pushes him back against the cage.

James tries to close the distance and clinch but Wurster swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
James doesn't manage to clinch there - Wurster circles away.
James throws a half hearted mid kick.
Wurster misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
James jabs Wurster right on the nose. Wurster blinks but takes it well.
Wurster tries to clinch there but James circles away.
James throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wurster sees it coming and avoids it easily.
James cracks Wurster with a right hand to the side of the head.
Wurster avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

James drops Wurster with a beautiful combination! Wurster stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - James is looking for the KO!


Wurster is rocked!
Wurster looks up at the clock. Bad move! James lands a right hand from hell, dropping Wurster. James pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bayley James!
Bayley James very nearly forgot to thank Bloodsport Nutrition amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
