Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Fitch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David McDonald!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fitch gets caught flat footed, as McDonald shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Fitch wants to sweep here but McDonald controlling him for the moment.
McDonald trying to control the position from guard on top but Fitch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McDonald chips away with some ground and pound.
McDonald passes Fitch's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Fitch is trying to stand.

Fitch is defending against the submission attempts here by McDonald.

McDonald is working for a kimura but Fitch is defending it quite comfortably.
Fitch works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McDonald seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Fitch is looking to stand up but McDonald isn't so interested in that idea.
McDonald trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Fitch keeping moving, preventing McDonald from controlling successfully.
Fitch wants to stand but McDonald is controlling the position.
McDonald postures up and lands a big shot to Fitch's brow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fitch is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Fitch is looking to stand up but McDonald isn't so interested in that idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fitch pulls McDonald in close to prevent any damage.
Fitch avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
McDonald wants to pass the guard but Fitch is keeping the position.
Fitch is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McDonald is controlling him.
Fitch trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
McDonald not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

McDonald drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says McDonald as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Fitch screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with McDonald! Nice submission victory there!

David McDonald was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
