The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bird throws a series of punches but Salas moves out of range.
Salas shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bird sprawls well. Bird wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Salas gets slowly back to his feet.
Salas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Salas bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Salas takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Bird should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Bird throws a nice looking combination but Salas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Bird lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Salas tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bird manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Salas will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oooooh!!! Bird has knocked Salas down with a huge combo! Bird steps away and waves a wobbly Salas back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Bird batters Salas with a massive right followed by a huge left! Salas is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Bird lands a final crushing right hand to drop Salas to the mat with a gruesome thud! Bird is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
