PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Riku Noitalahti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaarlo Vihtala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vihtala has chosen Pohjois-Karjala as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vihtala ducks straight into an uppercut from Noitalahti and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Vihtala manages to regain guard straight away.

Vihtala is rocked!

It looks like Kaarlo Vihtala has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vihtala is trying to control the position but Noitalahti postures up.
Vihtala is still in real trouble! Can Noitalahti finish him?

Noitalahti thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Vihtala looking for a guillotine here but Noitalahti defends easily.

Vihtala escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Noitalahti gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Vihtala seems keen to control Noitalahti's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Noitalahti is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Vihtala wants to sweep here but Noitalahti controlling him for the moment.

Vihtala manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Vihtala feints and then cracks Noitalahti's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Noitalahti down.
Vihtala misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Riku Noitalahti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Noitalahti is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vihtala.
Noitalahti on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Vihtala lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Noitalahti jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Horrible takedown by Vihtala or perhaps it was just good defense by Noitalahti which made him look bad.
Vihtala throws an overhand right that lands on Noitalahti's shoulder, as Noitalahti tries to avoid the shot.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Noitalahti. Vihtala shrugs it off though.

Noitalahti lands a nice looking kick to the body. Vihtala takes a step back to recover.
Noitalahti doesn't manage to clinch there - Vihtala circles away.
Noitalahti throws a series of punches but Vihtala avoids them all with ease.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Vihtala displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Noitalahti throws out the jab.
Noitalahti tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Vihtala manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Vihtala swats away the attempt to clinch by Noitalahti.
Noitalahti tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nice uppercut lands for Noitalahti. That snapped Vihtala's head back.

That has opened up Kaarlo Vihtala's cut even more.

Noitalahti throws a wild body kick that Vihtala sees coming a mile off.
Noitalahti lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Vihtala head around and knocks him out cold! Noitalahti hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.
