Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brett Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cory Krawd!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Krawd looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Williams throws a wild body kick that Krawd sees coming a mile off.
Williams throws a head kick but Krawd moves out of range.
Williams tries to clinch up but Krawd circles away and keeps his distance.

Brett Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Krawd wanted to stand there but Williams had control of the position.

Williams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Krawd avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Williams.

Williams stalling away here and it's allowed Krawd to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Williams wants to get up but he can't break Krawd's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Krawd is on top in guard.

Williams working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Krawd doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Krawd manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Williams is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Krawd dives into side control.

Krawd shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Krawd showed some decent athleticism there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Krawd connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Williams wants to hold on but Krawd pushes him away.

Krawd looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Krawd throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Williams is looking to improve his position but Krawd isn't that keen on the idea.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Krawd swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Williams is now in Krawd's guard. A big mistake from Krawd there, giving up the dominant position!
Krawd utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cory Krawd dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Brett Williams's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Williams feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Krawd's calf.
Williams tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Krawd counters with a three punch combo that has Williams backing up. Williams nods at Krawd to acknowledge the strikes.
Williams with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Williams lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Krawd blocks a head kick by Williams.

and Krawd counters with a nice double leg into side control. Williams won't be happy with that.

Krawd tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Krawd has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Williams gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Williams is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Krawd is trying to control the action in half guard but Williams is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Williams makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Williams.
Williams manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Krawd is breathing heavily.

Williams sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Krawd is working to get back to half guard.
Cory Krawd has got the better of the ground game so far.

Williams is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Krawd can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Williams is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Krawd is just riding it out for now. Williams eventually gives up the hold.

Williams has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Krawd defend it? Williams steps over the head and cranks it - Krawd is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Williams!
