PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Reign (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Zabuza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricky Zabuza!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zabuza takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Reign lands a body shot.
Reign closes the distance but Zabuza moves to the side
and Zabuza counters with a series of strikes. Reign will be more careful next time no doubt.
Reign throws a looping overhand right but Zabuza ducks down to avoid it.
Zabuza throws a nice looking combination but Reign bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Reign fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Zabuza manages to avoid it.
Reign throws a shot from downtown. Zabuza moves away and avoids it.
Reign throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zabuza throws a right and a left that Reign avoids nicely.

Zabuza throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Reign's waist but Reign gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Zabuza off to one side.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Zabuza will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Reign has his foot on Zabuza's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zabuza works his way back into a safe position though.

Ricky Zabuza showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Reign has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Zabuza is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Reign.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James Reign.
