Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Zat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zat is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Open your eyes by Alter Bridge. Dan Henderson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gabriel Zat!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Henderson gets a double leg takedown into Zat's guard.
Zat wants to stand but Henderson is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zat keeping moving, preventing Henderson from controlling successfully.
Henderson is really struggling to control Zat but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Henderson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Zat's guard.
Zat trying to control here.
Henderson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Zat wants to get back to his feet.
Henderson lands with a punch from half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Henderson thows a huge punch but Zat dodges it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Henderson content to control rather than advance.
Henderson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Henderson is trying to control. Zat wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Zat avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Henderson.
Henderson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Zat is trying to stand back up but Henderson is controlling him
Henderson uses his free foot to push down on Zat's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Zat.
Zat keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zat taking shots to the head.
Henderson lands a big shot there that rocks Zat but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Henderson breaks from Zat's wrist control and lands an elbow.


Zat is rocked!
Henderson punishing his opponent with strikes.
Zat is still in real trouble! Can Henderson finish him?
Henderson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Henderson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Henderson scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Zat?

Henderson working for a guillotine from mount but Zat is in no mood to give up.

Henderson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Zat has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Henderson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Zat seems to have recovered his senses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Henderson working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Henderson raining down shots from the mount!
Henderson looking to control but Zat is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Zat wants to control but Henderson is having none of it.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Henderson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Zat in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Henderson is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Zat goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Henderson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Dan Henderson!
