Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Flanagan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alvin Abac!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Flanagan gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Flanagan creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Abac's defenses.
Abac using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Flanagan has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Flanagan holds on and takes a little breather.
Abac wants to stand but Flanagan has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Flanagan has control of Abac's left arm, preventing Abac from doing any damage.
Abac has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Flanagan is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jon Flanagan.

Flanagan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Flanagan is keen to just control but Abac is a slippery customer.

Abac tries to pull guard but Flanagan won't allow it.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Flanagan turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Flanagan manages to end up in side control.
Abac is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Flanagan landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Flanagan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Flanagan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Flanagan in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Flanagan wants to control but Abac is keeping him busy.

Flanagan is putting a hurting on Abac here, landing some big shots from side control.
Flanagan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Abac tries to escape but Flanagan is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Flanagan goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Abac rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Flanagan's guard! Nice work there by Abac!
Abac wants to stand but Flanagan is controlling his posture from full guard.

Flanagan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Abac shoots in looking for a takedown but Flanagan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Abac's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Flanagan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Abac does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
