Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddel throws a series of punches but Kilbane moves out of range.

Liddel tries to keep at a distance but Kilbane has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kilbane has Liddel pressed against the cage.
Kilbane is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Liddel is defending well for now.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Kilbane throws an elbow but it misses.

Kilbane breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

It looks like Paul Kilbane has been cut.
Chuck Liddel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kilbane pivots, looking for a leg kick but Liddel is out of range and Kilbane settles back down.

Liddel is trying to break the clinch but Kilbane has him pressed against the cage.
Liddel is trying to push Kilbane away but Kilbane has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Liddel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kilbane circles away quickly and effectively.

Kilbane has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Liddel uses from the top position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Kilbane feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kilbane is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Liddel not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Kilbane moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Liddel has worked his arm free - good work by Liddel!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kilbane decides to stand back up.
Kilbane is looking to clinch but Liddel is avoiding it.

Kilbane moves into the clinch.
Liddel tries to break the clinch but Kilbane is controlling the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kilbane is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Liddel is defending well for now.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Liddel blocks an elbow strike from Kilbane.
Liddel tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Liddel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

and Kilbane counters with a single leg into guard. Liddel didn't expect that.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Paul Kilbane.

Sloppy strikes from Liddel. Those never looked like landing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Liddel throws a chopping leg kick but Kilbane manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Liddel wants to get up but he can't break Kilbane's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Kilbane creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kilbane wants to lay and pray for a moment but Liddel keeps working.
Liddel holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Kilbane is working Liddel over with some ground and pound from side control.
The referee asks Kilbane politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kilbane prefers to stall for the moment though.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Liddel wants to control but Kilbane postures up.
Kilbane is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Liddel's shoulder. That is not cool.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

I've got Kilbane winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
