And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ernesto Chevanton!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chevanton looks to clinch

and Kier counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chevanton won't be happy with that.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Chevanton is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kier asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Kier decides to stand back up. Kier steps back and let's Chevanton get back to his feet.
Chevanton doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kier counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Chevanton's guard now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kier is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Chevanton is surviving well by controlling Kier's body position as best he can.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chevanton is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Chevanton is looking to take a break and control but Kier is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kier on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kier tries to get out of the position.

Kier knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chevanton on the ground.
Chevanton wants to sweep but no luck.
Kier postures up in Chevanton's guard and throws a big left but Chevanton blocks it.
Chevanton can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kier controls the pace.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Kier can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Chevanton is looking to escape.
Chevanton is looking to improve his position but Kier isn't that keen on the idea.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kier goes for an armbar but Chevanton turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Chevanton.

Chevanton tries to stand but Kier is controlling from the bottom.

Kier isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Chevanton stacks Kier on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Chevanton!

Chevanton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kier, who protects the arm well.
Chevanton wants to control but Kier is keeping him busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ernesto Chevanton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Don Kier is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Don Kier.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kier, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
