Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vitor Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vicky Vegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vegas has chosen The Prodigy 'Omen' as his entrance music. Vitor Belfort has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vitor Belfort!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vicky Vegas!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belfort slips under a jab from Vegas.
Belfort shoots and misses

and Vegas counters with a shoot takedown. Belfort fights it but they end up in guard.
Vegas loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Vegas controls from within his opponent's guard.
Vegas tries to free his leg and advance position but Belfort is retaining full guard.
Belfort is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vegas is controlling him.

Belfort working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vegas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vegas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Belfort wants to stand and escape but Vegas is having none of it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Vegas's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Vicky Vegas.
Vegas throws a leg kick which misses Belfort's front leg but catches the back leg as Belfort tries to avoid it.

and Vegas counters with a nice uppercut.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Belfort can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Vegas controls the pace.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vegas tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Vegas stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Belfort gets caught napping as Vegas dives in and scores a takedown. Belfort manages to retain guard.
Vegas landing some decent shots from guard.
Vegas is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Belfort is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Vegas keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Belfort's head.

Vegas is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Belfort wants to get back to his feet but Vegas passes into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Vegas looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Belfort with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Vegas prevents Belfort from standing back up.
Vegas perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Vegas has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Vegas uses his free foot to push down on Belfort's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Belfort.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Vegas lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Vegas tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Vegas trying to control but Belfort is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Belfort's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Vegas tries to bum rush Belfort with a series of wild strikes but Belfort uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Belfort displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Vegas throws out the jab.

Vegas rushes Belfort and presses him up against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Belfort drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Vegas lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Vegas lands a hook that snaps the head of Belfort backwards.

Vegas has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Belfort clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Vegas wants to control but Belfort manages to buck him off and is now in Vegas's guard! Nice work there by Belfort!

Vegas had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Belfort defends it easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Belfort pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vegas is keeping the position for now.
Belfort is working hard here to advance position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Belfort postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Vegas is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Belfort, into his guard.

Vegas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vicky Vegas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Belfort goes for a takedown in the clinch but Vegas prevents it.
Vegas gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Vitor Belfort has been cut.
Belfort drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Vegas.

Belfort has Vegas pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vegas manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Vegas is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Belfort is trying to stand.
Vegas takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Vegas passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Belfort!

Vegas lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Vegas tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Belfort is trying to stand.
The referee warns Belfort that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Vegas putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Vegas sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Belfort squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Vegas connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vegas takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Vegas lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Vegas lands a heavy elbow.
Belfort is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Vegas breaks from Belfort's wrist control and lands an elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vicky Vegas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Vegas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
