Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Den Burlaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Jones could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Den Burlaka's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Den Burlaka!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burlaka fails with the takedown

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones.

Burlaka works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Burlaka must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Burlaka drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burlaka jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Jones is looking to stand up but Burlaka isn't so interested in that idea.

Den Burlaka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jones fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Burlaka fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Burlaka shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Burlaka's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jones lands an elbow that stopped Burlaka in his tracks for a moment.
Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Burlaka can do to turn this around?
Jones throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Burlaka takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Burlaka has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.

Burlaka dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Burlaka's head and hops out.

Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Burlaka is working an open guard so Jones takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Den Burlaka has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jones lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Jon Jones decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
