The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ericsen clinches with his opponent.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Ericsen has his hands on Silva's head, controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ericsen looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Silva puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Silva seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Ericsen wants to control but Silva is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Shawn Ericsen just wasn't active enough.

Silva lands with an uppercut that bounces Ericsen off the cage and back into range.

Ericsen drops back looking for a leg! Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silva manages to kick Ericsen off! Ericsen jumps back into Silva's guard.

Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ericsen's waist but Ericsen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.

Ericsen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Silva's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Shawn Ericsen.

Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ericsen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ericsen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
