Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cole Coggins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hriday Kakkar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coggins comes into the arena with Welcome Home blaring out of the sound system. Kakkar has chosen The Call of Ktulu as his entrance music. Cole Coggins had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Cole Coggins has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cole Coggins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hriday Kakkar!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kakkar checks a low kick from Coggins.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Coggins.
Kakkar showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Coggins.
Coggins tries to clinch there but Kakkar circles away.

Kakkar gets the takedown into side control.
Coggins taking a bit of punishment here - Kakkar scoring with strikes.
Kakkar lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Coggins bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kakkar throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Coggins was covering up waiting for the punch and Kakkar finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Coggins is breathing heavily.
Kakkar distracts Coggins with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Coggins is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kakkar is aware though and is defending well.
Kakkar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coggins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kakkar working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Coggins's head.
Coggins wants to stand and escape but Kakkar is having none of it.
Kakkar is working Coggins over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Kakkar looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Coggins with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kakkar decides to stand up.
Good work by Kakkar as he checks the leg kick.
Kakkar shoots in for a double leg but Coggins sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Kakkar doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Coggins counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Cole Coggins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hriday Kakkar.
Kakkar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Coggins is controlling him.
Coggins postures up in Kakkar's guard and throws a big left but Kakkar blocks it.

Coggins stands up and waves to Kakkar to follow him.
Coggins finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Coggins closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kakkar quickly recovers to half guard.

Kakkar pushes Coggins off and gets back to his feet.

Kakkar shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Coggins is trying to defend but Kakkar finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kakkar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Coggins tries to work over Kakkar's front leg with a kick but Kakkar checks it.
Kakkar dives in and grabs Coggins's left leg, looking for a takedown. Coggins pushes down on Kakkar's head and hops out.
