PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Coates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uri Gellar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gellar has chosen Rockstar as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sebastian Coates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Uri Gellar!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gellar defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Coates.
Crunch! Coates slams his shin into Gellar's torso.

Coates rushes Gellar and presses him up against the cage.
Gellar wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Coates has him pressed against the cage.

Coates ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Coates no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Gellar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Coates has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Sebastian Coates.

It looks like Uri Gellar has been cut.
Coates misses with a two punch combination.
Coates tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gellar paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gellar takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Gellar shoots in looking for a takedown. Coates tries to sprawl out of it but Gellar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coates manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Coates dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Coates forces Gellar back against the cage and clinches.
Gellar wants to break the clinch but can't.
Coates unloads a knee to the mid-section. Gellar lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Coates is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Coates scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Gellar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Coates scores with a head kick. Gellar tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
A nice leg kick lands there from Coates.

Coates shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Coates's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Coates has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Gellar tries to lock up and control but Coates gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Coates seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gellar for as long as he can get away with.

Coates manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Coates bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gellar's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gellar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Coates's waist but Coates gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gellar off to one side.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Coates throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Gellar wants to break free but Coates has control.
Gellar blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Coates not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Coates wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Sebastian Coates decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
