PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Paranoik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Arakcheyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arakcheyev has chosen Sad But True - Metallica as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Alexander Paranoik has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Alexander Paranoik seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Paranoik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Arakcheyev!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paranoik misses with a low kick.
Arakcheyev misses with a body shot.
Paranoik looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Arakcheyev is fending him off so far but Paranoik persists. Nope, Arakcheyev circles away and we're back to standing.
Arakcheyev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Paranoik is trying to stand back up but Arakcheyev is controlling him

Paranoik pushes Arakcheyev off and gets back to his feet.

Paranoik tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Paranoik tries a knee to the head but Arakcheyev blocks it.

Paranoik breaks the clinch.
Arakcheyev keeps the fight on the outside.

Arakcheyev has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Paranoik is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Arakcheyev defends well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Alexander Arakcheyev.
Paranoik wants to clinch up but Arakcheyev keeps it at a distance.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Arakcheyev is looking to control Paranoik's arms but Paranoik gets an underhook and turns him. Now Arakcheyev has his back to the cage.

Paranoik manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Alexander Arakcheyev will probably get the nod.
That's time! Paranoik's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alexander Paranoik will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Paranoik connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Arakcheyev's hands.

Paranoik closes the distance and clinches.
Paranoik is trying to break free.
Paranoik prevents a takedown attempt there.
Paranoik is trying to drag Arakcheyev to the mat but Arakcheyev just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Arakcheyev jumps guard but Paranoik stands there with Arakcheyev around his waist. Arakcheyev gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Paranoik misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Arakcheyev wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Paranoik.
Paranoik unloads with some shots from mount but Arakcheyev bucks and avoids them well.

Paranoik has hold of Arakcheyev's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Arakcheyev manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Paranoik tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Paranoik lands a big elbow.
Paranoik punching from mount but Arakcheyev doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Arakcheyev wants to control but Paranoik is having none of it.
Arakcheyev avoids a series of strikes thrown by Paranoik.

Arakcheyev is trying desperately to improve position.

Arakcheyev tries to hold on but Paranoik pushes him away.
Arakcheyev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paranoik. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Paranoik thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Arakcheyev's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
