PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Konar Macloud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Penties (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Macloud comes to the cage accompanied by Nutz on Ur Chin. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Penties!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penties throws a body kick the misses
and Macloud counters with an inside leg kick.
Macloud leaves Penties with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Penties fails in his attempt to clinch.
Horrible takedown by Macloud or perhaps it was just good defense by Penties which made him look bad.
Penties throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Macloud.
Penties tries to close the distance and clinch but Macloud swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Macloud thows a body shot but no joy.

Macloud shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Penties is trying to defend but Macloud finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Macloud is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Penties reverses the position - he's now on top in Macloud's guard.
Macloud wants to stand but Penties is controlling the position.

Macloud goes for an armbar but Penties turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Penties.

Macloud is trying to get back to half guard.
Penties has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Macloud!
Macloud tries to buck Penties off but he can't manage it.
Penties throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Macloud because Penties loaded up on that one.
Macloud is working to get back to half guard.

Penties landing shots from mount.
Macloud is breathing heavily.
Penties scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Penties can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Macloud is looking to escape.
Macloud knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penties on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Penties is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Macloud has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Macloud!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ben Penties will probably get the nod.
That's time! Macloud's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ben Penties seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penties lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Macloud steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Penties.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Penties.

so Macloud counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Macloud will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Macloud is looking for a sweep. Penties is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penties passes the guard and advances to mount!
Macloud keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Penties tries to control but Macloud wriggling away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Penties swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
