PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Leeroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and New York Strangler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leeroy comes to the cage accompanied by Boondocks Theme Song. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bruce Leeroy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, New York Strangler!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Chad Campbell and John Roberts.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strangler chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Leeroy can pounce on him.
Leeroy bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Strangler's head.
Leeroy lands with a cross.
Strangler wants to clinch up but Leeroy keeps it at a distance.
Strangler uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Leeroy.
Leeroy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Leeroy wants it to stay on the feet.
Leeroy throws a quick inside leg kick.
Jab by Leeroy.
Leeroy lands a nice shot to the body.
Strangler is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Strangler tries to close the distance and clinch but Leeroy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A swing and a miss from Leeroy.
Leeroy lands a jab to the head.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Strangler crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Leeroy - the referee stops the clock and Strangler gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Leeroy. Strangler manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Leeroy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Strangler manages to avoid it.
Strangler shoots for a takedown but Leeroy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Strangler has his takedown stuffed
and Leeroy counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Bruce Leeroy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of New York Strangler.
Strangler moves out of range of the leg kick from Leeroy.
Nice uppercut there from Leeroy.
Leeroy dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Strangler. That did some damage!

Leeroy fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Strangler has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Strangler fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Leeroy scoring well with a low kick there.
Crunch! Leeroy slams his shin into Strangler's torso.
Leeroy fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Strangler.
Leeroy throws a shot to the body.
That kick from Leeroy tenderised Strangler's leg. Strangler is trying to keep his angry face on.
A chopping leg kick lands by Leeroy.
Leeroy ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Leeroy feints and then cracks Strangler's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Strangler down.

Leeroy jabs Strangler to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Leeroy scores with a hook to the body. Strangler takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
New York Strangler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Strangler on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Leeroy. Leeroy obviously looking to wear him down.
Strangler takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Strangler is trying desperately to land a takedown but Leeroy is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Strangler.
Leeroy lands a nice shot to the body.
Leeroy connects with a jab.
Strangler moves forwards but Leeroy connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Leeroy moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Leeroy lands with an uppercut that bounces Strangler off the cage and back into range.
Leeroy tests Strangler's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Strangler's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Leeroy throws a body punch but Strangler moves out of range.
Leeroy fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Strangler fails with the takedown
and Leeroy counters with a stiff right hand.
Leeroy is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Strangler fails in his attempt to clinch.

and Leeroy counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Leeroy decides to stand back up.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Leeroy.
Leeroy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Leeroy throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Leeroy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Leeroy is looking to wear down Strangler with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Leeroy stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Leeroy throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Leeroy circles away from the clinch attempt.
Leeroy throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Strangler has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Leeroy.
Strangler drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Leeroy works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Leeroy turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Leeroy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Strangler can do to turn this around?
Strangler is breathing heavily.

and Leeroy counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Leeroy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bruce Leeroy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Strangler walks straight into a right hand from Leeroy - that's dropped him! Leeroy jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Strangler from any more punishment! Strangler complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Bruce Leeroy!
Bruce Leeroy really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Firebird Designs logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
