Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Petri Saarinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saarinen wants to clinch but Gomez slips to the side
and Gomez counters with a nice uppercut.
Gomez scores with a three punch combo!
A combination from Gomez does no damage.
Saarinen avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gomez avoids the head kick by Saarinen.
Saarinen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gomez looks to throw the jab but Saarinen is out of range.
Left hook, right uppercut from Gomez.
Saarinen tries a head kick but it misses.
Saarinen goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gomez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Gomez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Saarinen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Saarinen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gomez.
Gomez seems to be looking for submissions.
Gomez scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Saarinen is looking to escape.
Gomez wants to take a breather but Saarinen is having none of it.
Gomez gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Gomez lands a two punch combo.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gomez on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Saarinen. Saarinen obviously looking to wear him down.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gomez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gomez lands in his opponent's guard.
Gomez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Gomez wants to control from the top but Saarinen keeps moving.
Gomez throwing strikes but missing.
Saarinen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gomez passes into half guard.
Gomez has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Saarinen defend it? Gomez steps over the head and cranks it - Saarinen is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gomez!
