And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jean Van Dam!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Dam dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Slamen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Van Dam avoids it really well and circles away.
Van Dam swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Van Dam counters with a stiff right hand.

Van Dam takes a swing at Slamen's ribcage but misses.
Van Dam lands a nice hook to Slamen's body. Slamen takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Van Dam looks for a takedown but Slamen sprawls well.
Van Dam throws a body punch but Slamen moves out of range.
Van Dam fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Slamen manages to avoid it.

Slamen shoots in for a takedown but Van Dam shows good takedown defense.

so Slamen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Van Dam avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Slamen pushes down on Van Dam's leg and manages to get into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Van Dam can do anything to dispel that myth.

Slamen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Slamen in particular looking to stall.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slamen lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Slamen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Slamen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Van Dam works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Slamen works over Van Dam with some ground and pound from guard.
Slamen working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Van Dam's head.

Slamen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Van Dam has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Slamen has managed to get both his arms back between Van Dam's legs - danger averted.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Slamen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Van Dam as he avoids it easily.

Van Dam cracks Slamen with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Troy Slamen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Van Dam postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Slamen has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Van Dam doesn't defend quickly enough and Slamen has managed to lock this one up! Can Van Dam escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Slamen on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Troy Slamen!
