Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shadow Deathgrip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benny Coture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Shadow Deathgrip has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shadow Deathgrip!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Benny Coture!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deathgrip changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Coture tries to avoid it but Deathgrip manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Coture to the ground. Coture escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Deathgrip gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Coture counters with a single leg into guard. Deathgrip didn't expect that.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Deathgrip utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Coture drops back, looking for a kneebar! Deathgrip looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Deathgrip looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Deathgrip!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Deathgrip tries for a kimura but Coture is defending well.
Coture is looking for a sweep.
Deathgrip postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Deathgrip is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Coture is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Coture manages to work his way to half guard, despite Deathgrip's best efforts.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Deathgrip is trying to work for a kimura but Coture is defending well.
Coture makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Coture.
Coture can't keep his opponent in guard - Deathgrip advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Coture is trying to get back to full guard.
Deathgrip wants to control but Coture is keeping him busy.
Coture moves into full guard.
Coture is pulling down on Deathgrip's head. It's preventing any offense from Deathgrip, at least for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Coture bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Deathgrip's guard.
Coture is looking to work some ground and pound but Deathgrip has wrist control.
Coture trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Deathgrip keeping moving, preventing Coture from controlling successfully.
Coture stops Deathgrip from standing up.

Coture has gone for a leg lock! Deathgrip slips out almost immediately though and dives into Coture's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Coture looking for subs off his back but Deathgrip has passed one foot through into half guard.
Coture is staying active underneath Deathgrip, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Coture is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Deathgrip is trying for a kimura here. Coture looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Deathgrip wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Shadow Deathgrip!
