PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tony Bamboni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and EI Vittu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bamboni comes to the cage accompanied by Ice Ice Baby. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tony Bamboni!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, EI Vittu!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vittu stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bamboni.
Vittu throws a leg kick
and Bamboni counters with a flying knee. Nice.
EI Vittu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vittu dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bamboni. That did some damage!
Vittu lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Vittu.
Bamboni moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
No joy there for Bamboni, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bamboni blocks a low kick nicely.

Bamboni closes the distance and clinches.

Bamboni gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Vittu is trying to push Bamboni away but Bamboni has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Vittu gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bamboni.
Bamboni lands an elbow that stopped Vittu in his tracks for a moment.
Bamboni keeps control of Vittu as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Vittu is trying to break free.
Bamboni lands a damaging elbow.
Bamboni is trying to drag Vittu to the mat but Vittu just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Bamboni lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Vittu is trying to break the clinch but Bamboni has him pressed against the cage.
Vittu has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Bamboni keeps control of Vittu as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Bamboni gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Vittu wants to break the clinch but can't.

Vittu has had enough of the clinch but Bamboni keeps him there for the moment.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Bamboni.
Bamboni changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Vittu fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Bamboni. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vittu stalks Bamboni and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bamboni's face. Bamboni staggers backwards, shaken.

Vittu throws a series of punches but Bamboni avoids them all with ease.

Vittu looks for the body kick but Bamboni saw that one coming.

Vittu throws a right and a left that Bamboni avoids nicely.
Bamboni fakes the leg kick and cracks Vittu in the body.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bamboni rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vittu moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Vittu throws a head kick that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tony Bamboni will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Vittu throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Vittu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bamboni closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vittu circles away.

Bamboni has Vittu pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vittu manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Bamboni turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bamboni manages to end up in side control.

Bamboni throws a strike aimed at the side of Vittu's head but Vittu avoids it well.
Vittu tries to escape but Bamboni is in control.

Bamboni wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vittu, who protects the arm well.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Bamboni wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vittu keeps working.
Bamboni tries to score with some ground and pound. Vittu controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Bamboni is looking to take a break and control but Vittu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Vittu is trying to get back to his feet.

Bamboni swings around for an armbar but Vittu sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bamboni's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vittu tries to stand but Bamboni is controlling from the bottom.

Bamboni had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vittu defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vittu got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bamboni has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vittu has managed to get both his arms back between Bamboni's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Vittu wants to slow Bamboni down by chopping away at his legs.
Bamboni shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vittu as he avoids it easily.

Vittu pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Bamboni back to the cage. Vittu follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Vittu throws a series of punches but Bamboni moves out of range.

Bamboni moves into range and clinches up with Vittu.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Vittu is looking to break free of the clinch but Bamboni has double underhooks.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
A bit of stalling here from Bamboni.

Bamboni gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Vittu wants to get back to his feet.
Vittu is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Bamboni is looking to advance position but Vittu won't allow it.

Bamboni is working for a kimura but Vittu is defending it quite comfortably.
Vittu wants to get back to his feet.

Bamboni tries to pass to full mount but Vittu defends it.
Bamboni looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Bamboni is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bamboni in particular looking to stall.
Vittu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bamboni. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Vittu tries to kick Bamboni off but Bamboni keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Vittu takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bamboni is trying to work for a kimura but Vittu is defending well.
Bamboni will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Bamboni stops Vittu from getting back to his feet.
Bamboni looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vittu with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Bamboni is trying to control the action in half guard but Vittu is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Vittu is trying to stand.
Tony Bamboni is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Bamboni works his way into side control.
Bamboni is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Vittu's shoulder. That is not cool.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Bamboni is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Vittu will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
EI Vittu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bamboni, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
