The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ahmed fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gonzales scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Ahmed drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Ahmed cracks Gonzales with a solid left hand.
Gonzales tries to strike from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ahmed wants to pass the guard but Gonzales is keeping the position.
Ahmed is working hard here to advance position.
Gonzales escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ahmed gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gonzales can't keep his opponent in guard - Ahmed advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gonzales wants to get back to full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ahmed seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Ahmed moves nicely into side control.
Ahmed advances nicely into full mount.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Ahmed quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Ahmed but it's paid off an Gonzales is forced to tap! Nice work by Ahmed.
