Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Toothpick Dave!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter McCann!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Eliza Hachem.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCann tries to close the distance and clinch but Dave swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
McCann fails to land the takedown.

Dave fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging McCann to the ground. Dave is now in McCann's guard.
Dave trying to control but McCann is working from the bottom.
Dave is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Toothpick Dave.

McCann drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Dave is trying to control McCann's posture but McCann avoids it.
McCann is looking to take a break and control but Dave is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McCann working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Dave controls the position for a moment.
McCann working away.
Dave tries to improve position but can't.

Dave could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
McCann tries to advance to mount but can't.
Dave manages to get back to half guard.
Dave regains full guard. Nicely done.
Dave manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McCann manages to get himself to full guard.

Dave stands up from McCann's guard - Dave perhaps looking for a knockout.
Nice takedown defense from McCann. No joy for Dave on that attempt.

Dave fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging McCann to the ground. Dave is now in McCann's guard.
McCann is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McCann tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dave looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Dave prevents McCann from getting back to his feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Toothpick Dave wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Dave fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McCann shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dave sprawls well. Dave wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McCann gets slowly back to his feet.
McCann looks gassed!

A momentary lapse in concentration from McCann enables Dave to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McCann manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
McCann wants to stand and escape but Dave is having none of it.
McCann keeping full guard, as Dave tries to pass.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dave is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Toothpick Dave dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

McCann throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dave counters with a left and a right that stings McCann.

McCann fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dave, pushing him back against the cage.
Dave tries to pull guard but McCann won't allow it.
Dave tries for a takedown but McCann manages to get underhooks.

McCann lands a takedown into guard.
Dave has his hands on McCann's head, controlling the position.

McCann stands up from guard. Let's bang!
McCann shoots in but Dave avoids the takedown attempt easily.
McCann is breathing heavily.
McCann throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dave's waist but Dave gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McCann off to one side.

Dave gets a clinch.
Dave scores with a hook to the body.
Dave keeps control of McCann as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Dave goes for a takedown in the clinch but McCann prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Toothpick Dave. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McCann misses with a short punch on the inside.

Dave gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Toothpick Dave overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

McCann is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dave defends well.
Dave content to stall in guard here.

Dave slips nicely into half guard.

Dave decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dave throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

McCann gets caught flat footed, as Dave shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

McCann is trying to push Dave off with his feet but Dave grabs hold of one of the legs and drops back looking for a submission! He's cranking on one of McCann's ankles and McCann is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaall over!
