PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikko Ruutu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jace Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jace Wright was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruutu has his takedown stuffed
and Wright counters with a nice low kick that buckles Ruutu's knee momentarily.
Wright throws a series of strikes that have Ruutu backpedaling.
Wright fails to land with a series of punches.

Ruutu gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wright to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Wright gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Wright closes the distance and clinches up with Ruutu, looking for a takedown. Wright pushes Ruutu against the cage but Ruutu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Ruutu shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wright defends it nicely.
Ruutu tries to clinch up but Wright circles away and keeps his distance.
A jab from Wright does it's job there.
Wright is looking to clinch but Ruutu is avoiding it.
Ruutu throws a wild body kick that Wright sees coming a mile off.

A right-left combo lands from Ruutu.

It looks like Jace Wright has been cut.
Ruutu slips a jab and a cross from Wright.

Wright bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wright tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Wright throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Ruutu tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wright goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ruutu rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Wright's guard! Nice work there by Ruutu!

Wright looks gassed!

Ruutu drops back looking for a leg! Wright is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wright manages to kick Ruutu off! Ruutu jumps back into Wright's guard.

Wright working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ruutu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Wright is tightening it up a little... Ruutu has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Ruutu reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Ruutu taps out! Nice BJJ there by Wright!
