Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wyatt Earp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Smith!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Earp fails with a takedown attempt.

Earp shoots in and bounces Smith off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Earp engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Earp works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Smith missing with punches from the bottom.
Earp thows a huge punch but Smith dodges it nicely.
Smith is trying to control but can't.

Earp throwing shots but Smith is blocking nicely.
Earp uses his free foot to push down on Smith's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Smith.
Earp tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Earp prevents Smith from getting the reversal.
Earp sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Earp scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Smith?

Earp takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Smith wants to hold on but Earp pushes him away.
The referee warns Smith that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Smith is looking to improve his position but Earp isn't that keen on the idea.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Earp tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Smith wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Earp holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Smith tries to pull guard but Earp won't allow it.

Earp closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Earp pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Smith has had enough of the clinch but Earp keeps him there for the moment.
Earp lands an elbow inside that Smith shrugs off.
Smith is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Earp to keep the fight standing.
Smith tries to pull guard but Earp holds him up against the cage and eventually Smith drops back down to his feet.
Smith can't get the takedown.

Smith ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Smith no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Earp stays in close to Smith's body and controls the position.

Earp is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Earp working over Smith with some ground and pound. Smith looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Smith trying to get back to full guard but Earp takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close second round but David Smith will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Earp tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smith swivels and escapes.
Smith lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Earp moves out of range as Smith throws a body kick.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Earp swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Earp sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Earp sprawls well. Earp wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Earp misses with a few strikes there.
Smith tries for a takedown but Earp circles away easily

so Earp counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wyatt Earp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Smith.

Smith trying to keep a closed guard but Earp is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Earp cracks Smith with a solid left hand.
Smith can't keep his opponent in guard - Earp advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Earp is taking a breather. Smith says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Earp has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Earp slips a nice elbow through Smith's hands, connecting with Smith's forehead.

Earp trying to control the action but Smith is working from the bottom.
Smith pushes Earp off looking to stand but Earp dives back in and keeps control.
Earp performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Smith wants to get back to full guard.

Earp gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Earp swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Smith is not content to let Earp control the position.
You can see the frustration on Smith's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Earp lands a few punches from side control.

Smith is trying hard to land a takedown here. Earp sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Earp shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Wyatt Earp overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
