PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Norris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinny Shango (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shango has chosen Johnny Cash - Ain't Gonna Hobo No More as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vinny Shango!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Norris is defended easily by Shango.
Chuck Norris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shango keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Norris shoots for a double leg takedown but Shango sprawls well. He's pushed Norris's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chuck Norris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shango stuffs the takedown attempt from Norris. Norris gets slowly back to his feet.
Norris throws a lazy head kick

and Shango moves into the clinch.

Shango is trying to trip Norris. He has hold of a leg but Norris is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Shango persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Chuck Norris wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Norris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shango tries to avoid it but Norris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shango to the ground. Shango escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Shango has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Norris off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Norris takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Shango's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Norris looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
