The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benevides uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McCulloch.
Benevides misses with an uppercut. McCulloch saw that one coming.
McCulloch lunges at Benevides with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Benevides's hand.
Benevides throws a series of punches but McCulloch moves out of range.
Benevides fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
McCulloch scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Benevides looks to clinch
and McCulloch counters with a single leg into guard. Benevides didn't expect that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
McCulloch won't allow Benevides to sweep him here.

Benevides wants to get back to his feet but McCulloch drags him back down.
Benevides tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McCulloch wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

McCulloch wants to control but Benevides is keeping him busy.

McCulloch wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Benevides, who protects the arm well.
McCulloch advances to mount.
Benevides is looking to improve his position but McCulloch isn't that keen on the idea.

McCulloch pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Benevides takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Benevides slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
McCulloch will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McCulloch passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Benevides!

McCulloch controlling his opponent.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Benevides swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
McCulloch is trying to control here but Benevides has managed to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A looping hook to the body misses from McCulloch. Benevides does a little dance to reset his feet.
Benevides gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Benevides takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McCulloch misses the shot to the body.
Benevides ducks under a wild hook from McCulloch.
McCulloch ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Benevides moves away.
McCulloch just misses with a punch to the body.

and McCulloch counters with a straight right hand.
Benevides keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
McCulloch throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Benevides tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and McCulloch counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Michael McCulloch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Benevides.
McCulloch lands with a nice body punch.
Dave Benevides is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Benevides pivots, looking for a leg kick but McCulloch is out of range and Benevides settles back down.

Benevides has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Benevides there as he acknowledges the shot.
McCulloch misses with a body shot.
Benevides fails with a takedown attempt.

Benevides throws a body punch but McCulloch moves out of range.
McCulloch fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Benevides looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
McCulloch lands a right hook to the body.
McCulloch is looking to wear down Benevides with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
McCulloch gets a clinch.
McCulloch gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Benevides regains guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McCulloch works to advance to full mount. Benevides defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
McCulloch has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Benevides's face.

Benevides flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Benevides wants to hold on but McCulloch pushes him away.
McCulloch is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Benevides is forced to tap! Great finish!
