Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Stanislav Krauss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Ribiero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Stanislav Krauss has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Stanislav Krauss!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Ribiero!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Krauss enables Ribiero to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Krauss manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Ribiero trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ribiero must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Krauss keeping moving, preventing Ribiero from controlling successfully.

Ribiero wants to control but Krauss is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Paul Ribiero wasn't active enough on the ground.
Krauss will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ribiero tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Krauss was well out of range. Poor timing from Ribiero.

Krauss misses with a combination

and Ribiero counters with a nice double leg into side control. Krauss won't be happy with that.

Ribiero thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Krauss pushes Ribiero away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ribiero gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Ribiero advances nicely into full mount.
Krauss is working to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Krauss.

Krauss tries to keep at a distance but Ribiero has taken the fight into the clinch.

Ribiero breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ribiero tries a head kick but it misses.

Ribiero closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Krauss did well to prevent Ribiero getting side control.

Paul Ribiero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ribiero sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Krauss doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Ribiero paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Krauss - great work!
