Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Fabricio Valesquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Omar Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Valesquez comes to the cage accompanied by "Ratamahatta" by Sepultura. Fabricio Valesquez could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Omar Mendes's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valesquez takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Valesquez scores with a nice right hand.

It looks like Omar Mendes has been cut.
Mendes lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Mendes defending well as Valesquez loads up on a big left hand.
Valesquez slips a jab and a cross from Mendes.
Mendes stuffs the takedown.
Mendes lands with a right hand.
Mendes throws a series of punches but Valesquez moves out of range.
Mendes misses the jab.
Valesquez throws a front kick aimed at Mendes's knee but Mendes avoids it well.
Mendes stalks Valesquez and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Valesquez's face. Valesquez staggers backwards, shaken.
Mendes scores with a hook.

Valesquez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mendes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Some wild striking there from Mendes.
Mendes stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fabricio Valesquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Valesquez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mendes's waist but Mendes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Valesquez off to one side.

Valesquez gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Valesquez misses with a low kick.
Mendes connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Valesquez momentarily.
Mendes looks to land a combination but Valesquez avoids it well.
Mendes misses with a double jab
and Valesquez counters with a nice leg kick.
Mendes throws a right hand that Valesquez ducks under and follows up with a left that Valesquez also avoids with ease.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A lazy left from Mendes finds it's target.
Valesquez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Valesquez there as he acknowledges the shot.
Mendes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Valesquez moves out of range as Mendes throws a body kick.

Valesquez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Valesquez maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Mendes could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Valesquez has cracked it and Mendes is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Valesquez!
