Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Redd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adam Redd could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Brock Rua's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adam Redd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brock Rua!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redd fails in his attempt to clinch.

Redd gets caught napping as Rua dives in and scores a takedown. Redd manages to retain guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Redd is trying to keep Rua in close.
Rua preventing the sweep.
Rua showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Redd is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rua is aware though and is defending well.

Rua has gone for a leg lock! Redd slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rua's guard.
Redd wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving.

Rua wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rua can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rua thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Rua really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Redd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Adam Redd has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Rua shoots in and bounces Redd off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Rua controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rua's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Brock Rua has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Rua shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Redd's guard.
Rua tries to free his leg and advance position but Redd is retaining full guard.

Redd is working an open guard so Rua takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Redd misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rua keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Redd tries to sprawl but Rua drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Well, if Rua is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Redd tries to get to full guard but Rua has control of the leg.

Rua content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Brock Rua has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Rua forces Redd back against the cage and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Rua dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Rua punishes Redd's body with a nice straight punch.
Redd swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Adam Redd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rua.
Rua in side control lands a decent elbow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Brock Rua was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Rua closes the distance and clinches.
Redd is trying to pull guard but Rua has him pressed against the cage.

Rua gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Rua keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Redd is trying to maintain the position but Rua is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Brock Rua wasn't active enough on the ground.

Rua clinches up with Redd and pushes him back against the cage.
Rua is trying to break the clinch but Redd is controlling him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rua lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.


It looks like Adam Redd has been cut.

Rua successfully pulls guard.
Redd trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rua has his feet on Redd's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Redd will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Rua clinches with his opponent.
Rua wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Redd is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rua is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Redd to the mat. Redd regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Rua not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rua must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brock Rua hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Rua dives in and scores a takedown into Redd's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rua is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Redd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Rua showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Adam Redd's cut.
That's time! Redd's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Rua has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Redd tries for a takedown but Rua sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Redd fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rua avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

and Rua counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Redd's guard now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Redd. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rua tries to free his leg and advance position but Redd is retaining full guard.

Brock Rua has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rua in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Rua is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Redd is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Rua scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Redd to see if he's OK.

Rua stands up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rua shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Redd napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Adam Redd has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rua lands some shots froms side control.
The referee asks Rua politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rua prefers to stall for the moment though.

Rua decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Rua feints and as Redd raises his hands in defense, Rua changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rua slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Rua not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Redd will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Brock Rua wasn't active enough on the ground.

Rua feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Brock Rua is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rua passes into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Rua has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
