Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between J.P. Damphousse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Gerarld (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). P. Damphousse and Lee Gerarld. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damphousse pushes Gerarld up against the cage in a clinch.
Gerarld lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Gerarld using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Damphousse has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Gerarld lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Damphousse manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Damphousse wants to sweep but no luck.
Gerarld must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Damphousse pulls Gerarld in close to prevent any damage.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Damphousse has taken the fight to the clinch.

Gerarld lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Damphousse jumps guard but Gerarld stands there with Damphousse around his waist. Damphousse gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Gerarld lands a damaging elbow.
Gerarld misses with a punch on the inside.
Damphousse wants to break free but Gerarld has control.
Gerarld lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Gerarld tries to land a knee to the head but Damphousse blocks with his arms.
Gerarld has Damphousse pressed against the cage, preventing Damphousse from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Gerarld manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Gerarld breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Damphousse fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Gerarld checks it well.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Gerarld enables Damphousse to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gerarld manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Damphousse forces his way into half guard.
Damphousse not doing much here.
Damphousse is working for a kimura but Gerarld is defending it quite comfortably.
Damphousse wants to take a breather but Gerarld is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Damphousse looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Damphousse prevents Gerarld from improving his position.
Damphousse is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gerarld defends it well.
Damphousse thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Damphousse is looking to take a break and control but Gerarld is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Damphousse tries to pass to full mount but Gerarld defends it.
Damphousse is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gerarld is just riding it out for now. Damphousse eventually gives up the hold.
Damphousse is pressing down on Gerarld's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gerarld is holding on for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gerarld is staying active underneath Damphousse, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
A cross from Gerarld lands.
Damphousse fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gerarld tries to clinch
and Damphousse counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Damphousse sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Gerarld looking to control.

Damphousse trying to control the position from guard on top but Gerarld is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Damphousse thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Damphousse passes into half guard.
Damphousse passes to side control.
Damphousse looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Damphousse controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Damphousse is working to tighten is grip on Gerarld's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Gerarld has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Damphousse is really squeezing tight and eventually Gerarld passes out! Damphousse breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
