The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gadafi drives through and clinches with Couto against the cage.
Gadafi is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Gadafi is trying to push Couto away but Couto has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Gadafi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gadafi scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like Cristiano Couto has been cut.
Couto tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gadafi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Couto somewhat.
Couto tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Couto fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gadafi shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Couto eats them both and turns towards Gadafi to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Gadafi has taken the fight to the clinch.
Gadafi has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Couto is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Gadafi pulls Couto into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Gadafi wants to stand but Couto is controlling the position.

Mr Gadafi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gadafi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Couto, pushing him back against the cage.
Couto is trying desperately to land a takedown but Gadafi is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Couto.
Gadafi gets underhooks to prevent Couto's takedown attempt.

Couto thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gadafi wants to stand up but Couto is controlling him.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gadafi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Couto drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Couto jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gadafi tries to clinch up but Couto circles away and keeps his distance.
