Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Trevor Layhe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Herald Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Taylor's choice of entrance music: Smoke the Fire!!. Herald Taylor will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Herald Taylor!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor lands a nice leg kick that just misses Layhe's sensitive parts.
Taylor feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Layhe's calf.
The fight stays on the outside here - Taylor looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Taylor misses with a two punch combination.
Taylor fails to land with a series of punches.
Taylor lands a jab-cross combination.
Taylor comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Taylor is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Taylor controls Layhe momentarily but Layhe frees himself.

Taylor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Layhe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taylor controls Layhe momentarily but Layhe frees himself.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Layhe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Layhe wants to pass the guard but Taylor is keeping the position.
Layhe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Taylor wants to get back to his feet but Layhe is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Taylor is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Herald Taylor hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Taylor is looking to clinch but Layhe is avoiding it.
Taylor throws a series of punches but Layhe moves out of range.

Layhe drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Layhe tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Taylor tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Layhe cracks Taylor with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Taylor from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Layhe doesn't have the hooks in and Taylor manages to turn into his guard.

and Layhe counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Taylor. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Taylor is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Layhe defends well.
Layhe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Layhe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Taylor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Layhe has managed to get both his arms back between Taylor's legs - danger averted.

Taylor has his feet on Layhe's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Layhe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Taylor on the ground.

Trevor Layhe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Taylor has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Layhe has passed into side control.

Taylor is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Layhe is controlling him well.
Taylor manages to get back to half guard.
Layhe looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Layhe throws a strike but Taylor avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Taylor wants to stand but Layhe is controlling the position.
Layhe wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.

Taylor manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Trevor Layhe will probably get the nod.
That's time! Layhe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Layhe shoots in looking for a takedown but Taylor manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Layhe's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Layhe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Taylor is fending him off so far but Layhe persists. Nope, Taylor circles away and we're back to standing.

Taylor shoots in looking for a takedown. Layhe tries to sprawl out of it but Taylor keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Layhe manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Taylor looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Herald Taylor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Layhe leaves Taylor with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Trevor Layhe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Herald Taylor.
Taylor shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Layhe pinned against the cage. Layhe gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Layhe has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Taylor.

Taylor tries to lock up and control but Layhe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Layhe postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Taylor looks a forlorn figure.
Taylor is looking to improve his position but Layhe isn't that keen on the idea.

Layhe swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Taylor is now in Layhe's guard. A big mistake from Layhe there, giving up the dominant position!

I would just about give that final round to Herald Taylor.
I think Taylor has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
