PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Heilman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hanzo Hatori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hatori comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Samurai Champloo kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Hanzo Hatori will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Heilman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hanzo Hatori!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heilman misses with a two punch combination.
Hatori blocks a jab.
Heilman misses with an uppercut. Hatori saw that one coming.

Heilman has managed to clinch.
Hatori trying to stall but Heilman improves his position.
Hatori is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Heilman gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hatori.

Heilman lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Hatori looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Heilman seems to be looking for submissions.
Heilman prevents Hatori from improving his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Heilman is working for a kimura but Hatori is defending it quite comfortably.
Hatori is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Heilman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Heilman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Hatori is defending against the submission attempts here by Heilman.
Heilman is breathing heavily.
Hatori works his way to full guard. Good work.
Heilman prevents Hatori from getting back to his feet.

Heilman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Heilman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Heilman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hatori swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hatori looking to hit a scissor sweep but Heilman is one step ahead there.
Heilman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hatori is keeping the position for now.
Hatori really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Heilman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hatori slips under a jab.
Hatori connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Hatori throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Heilman throws a series of punches but Hatori moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hatori shoots in but no luck this time.
Hanzo Hatori seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hatori looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
David Heilman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hanzo Hatori.
Hatori shoots in looking for a takedown. Heilman tries to sprawl out of it but Hatori keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Heilman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Heilman gets a takedown into half guard.
Hatori wants to improve his position but Heilman is controlling well.

Heilman is working for a submission of some sort.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hatori is looking for a sweep. Heilman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Heilman wants to work for an arm triangle but Hatori is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hatori works his way to full guard. Good work.
Heilman slips nicely into half guard.

Heilman has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hatori defend it? Heilman steps over the head and cranks it - Hatori is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Heilman!
