PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Inoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kuririn Kame (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kuririn Kame told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Antonio Inoki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kuririn Kame!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kame doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Inoki dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kame showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Inoki.
Inoki lands with a right hand.
Inoki scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Kuririn Kame has been cut.
Inoki scores with a shot to the body.
Inoki bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kame's head backwards.
Kame fails with the takedown
letting Inoki counter with a right hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A punch lands to the side of Kame 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Kame takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kame shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Inoki connects with a body shot.
Kame takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Inoki throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kame.
Kame gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Inoki counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Kame looks gassed!
Kame slips a jab and a cross from Inoki.
Kame takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kame shoots and misses
and Inoki counters with a left and a right that stings Kame.
Antonio Inoki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kuririn Kame.

Inoki connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kame. Kame circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Inoki's corner calls for a 1-2. Inoki obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Inoki goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Inoki looks to land a combination but Kame avoids it well.
Inoki lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

and Inoki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kame doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Inoki counters with a series of strikes. Kame will be more careful next time no doubt.
Kame takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Antonio Inoki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Inoki is looking to clinch.
Kame takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Inoki misses with a series of wild punches.
Inoki buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Inoki throws a combination. Kame tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Kame walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Danga de danga de dang - Inoki scores with a four punch combination!
Kame takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Inoki lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kame circles away quickly and effectively.
Inoki throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Kame counters with a shoot takedown. Inoki fights it but they end up in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kame drops back, looking for a kneebar! Inoki looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Inoki looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Inoki!
Kame is working to avoid the ground and pound but Inoki connects with a decent elbow.
Inoki lands a decent elbow from side control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kame wants to get back to his feet.

Inoki decides to stand back up. Inoki steps back and let's Kame get back to his feet.
Inoki slaps away a takedown attempt from Kame, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Inoki lands a two punch combo.
Inoki tries to bum rush Kame with a series of wild strikes but Kame uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Inoki misses with a jab, cross combination.
Inoki throws a right hand that Kame ducks under and follows up with a left that Kame also avoids with ease.
Inoki scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Kame misses with a takedown attempt
and Inoki connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Inoki fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Inoki swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Inoki scores with a punch to the head.
Inoki tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kame swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kame.
Antonio Inoki is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Inoki throws a leg kick that misses.
Inoki throws a low kick but Kame avoids it.
Inoki feints a jab promting Kame to slip. Inoki then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kame slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Nice jab there from Inoki.
Inoki bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kame's head backwards.
Inoki lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Some wild striking there from Inoki.
Kame shoots for a double leg takedown but Inoki sprawls well. He's pushed Kame's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Antonio Inoki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kuririn Kame.

Sloppy strikes from Inoki. Those never looked like landing.
Inoki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kame fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Inoki avoids it really well and circles away.
Inoki defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kame.
Inoki will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kame's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Inoki connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kame scrambles back to his feet.

Inoki throws a sloppy head kick and Kame moves out of range easily.
Inoki throws a nice looking combination but Kame bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Inoki is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kame takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Kame shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Inoki pinned against the cage. Inoki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Kame decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Inoki's guard.

Inoki is looking to control Kame's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Inoki avoid being mounted?
Inoki is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kame is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Kame is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Inoki is just riding it out for now. Kame eventually gives up the hold.
Kuririn Kame has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Inoki not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kame stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Inoki swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Inoki tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Inoki looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kame sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Inoki's guard.

Kame is trying to work for a kimura but Inoki is defending well.
The fighters are battling for position here. Inoki manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Inoki is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Inoki wants to improve his position but instead Kame has moved into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Inoki is looking to improve his position.

Kame is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Inoki doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kame.
Inoki on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Inoki tries to get out of the position.

Kuririn Kame has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to Kuririn Kame.
I think Inoki has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
