PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dutch Kick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swanson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. all nightmare long by metallica kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dutch Kick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karl Swanson!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kick misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Swanson to counter with a crisp jab.
Kick throws a right hand that misses

and Swanson counters with a shoot takedown. Kick fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kick utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Kick can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Swanson controls the pace.
Kick wants to stand up but Swanson is controlling him.
Swanson pushes down on Kick's leg and manages to get into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Swanson connects with a nice short shot to Kick's temple.

Kick knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Swanson on the ground.

Kick is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Swanson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kick has worked his arm free - good work by Kick!
Kick tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kick wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Swanson.

and Kick takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Swanson slips under a jab from Kick.
Kick throws a looping overhand right but Swanson ducks down to avoid it.
Swanson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kick feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Swansons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

The fighters circling - Swanson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Kick ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

and Swanson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Swanson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Kick is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Swanson.
Kick looks to throw the jab but Swanson is out of range.
Swanson misses with a series of wild punches.
Swanson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kick.
Swanson throws the left hand but Kick avoids the punch easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kick enables Swanson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kick manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Swanson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Karl Swanson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Dutch Kick has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Swanson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

I would just about give that final round to Karl Swanson.
I've got Swanson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
