PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and me Mongo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). me Mongo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kimbo Slice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, me Mongo!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Slice shoots in and bounces Mongo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Slice gets to his feet. Mongo looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Slice drives through and clinches with Mongo against the cage.
Mongo has Slice pressed against the cage, preventing Slice from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Slice keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mongo's efforts to push away.
Mongo controlling the action here for a moment.

Slice drags the fight down to the ground.
Slice pulls Mongo in to control the position.
Slice bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mongo's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Slice stands up over Mongo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mongo keeping full guard, as Slice tries to pass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slice sitting in guard here, content to control.
Slice tries to free his leg and advance position but Mongo is retaining full guard.
Slice content to stall in guard here.

Slice gets to his feet - Mongo follows without any prompting.
Slice could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Some wild striking there from Mongo.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Slice is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mongo's half guard.
Slice lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mongo wants to get back to his feet.

Slice is looking for a kimura but Mongo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Slice to get the leverage.
Mongo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Slice. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Slice decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Mongo misses with a two punch combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Slice clinches.

Slice gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Slice gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Mongo lands a big head kick that sends Slice tumbling to the mat! Mongo takes a step backwards and waves Slice back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Kimbo Slice has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Slice throws the kick towards the body but Mongo avoids it.
Slice throws a right hand that Mongo ducks under and follows up with a left that Mongo also avoids with ease.
Mongo steps in with a hook that catches Slice right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Mongo follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Slice looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). me Mongo!
After the fight, me Mongo was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
