Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emerson works Rua's body with a nice hook.
Rua moves in looking to clinch but Emerson pushes him off.
Rua showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Emerson.
Gabriel Emerson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Emerson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Emerson trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rua keeping full guard, as Emerson tries to pass.
Emerson stays in close to Rua's body and controls the position.

Rua wants to stand but Emerson is controlling the position.

Rua keeping moving, preventing Emerson from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Gabriel Emerson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Emerson misses with a series of wild punches.
Rua closes the distance but Emerson moves to the side
and Emerson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Rua is looking to clinch but Emerson is avoiding it.
Rua fails with the takedown
and Emerson counters with a nice uppercut.
Rua with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Emerson to score with a decent uppercut.
Emerson looking to score a takedown here. Rua is defending well but Emerson drives through and ends up in Rua's guard.

Rua is trying to keep Emerson in close.
Emerson passes Rua's left leg - he's now in half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rua pushes Emerson off looking to stand but Emerson dives back in and keeps control.
Emerson passes to side control.

Emerson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Emerson trying to control the position but Rua is working away.

Emerson tries to advance to mount but Rua denies him.
Rua really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Emerson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Emerson has hold of Rua's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Rua tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Emerson cranks the arm and Rua screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Rua, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Gabriel Emerson!
In his post fight interview, Gabriel Emerson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
